Professor, researcher, clinician, author — and an unusually accomplished athlete who lives the brain-body fitness principles he teaches.
Dr. Michael Hoffmann, MD PhD
Dr. Hoffmann specializes in brain health and has authored five books focused on evaluating the human mind, understanding its evolution, and maintaining cognitive wellness throughout life.
He earned his MBBch from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, where he also completed his neurology training, before pursuing fellowship training in stroke and cerebrovascular diseases at Columbia University in New York. He holds two senior doctorates — an MD in cerebrovascular disease and a PhD in behavioral medicine.
Over his career he founded three Florida stroke centers — at Tampa General Hospital/USF, the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, and the Orlando VA Medical Center — and today divides his time between teaching, research, clinical cognitive neurology, writing and speaking.
